Day 779 - James Gets Fully Capped!!! 😁 & a New Bath Chair! 🛁
Friday, February 17th, 2023
In the morning, Mom and James worked on standing. We will be using whatever distraction keeps James standing. Right now he is loving the Mickey Mouse club and puzzles.
Great news! The caps came in from Mom's online order this afternoon! Much earlier than expected! So this evening we tried James fully capped! He lasted from 5:45pm to 7:45pm. Our ENT doctor let us know what to look for when he needed a break from it, because he would instantly get upset. At 7:45pm, it was time to put him on the ventilator anyways because we needed to do his nebulizer treatments. For some kids it's easier to tolerate the cap than the passy muir valve. James had no issue switching from the HME. Over the next week we will be keeping the cap on for as long as he'll tolerate but switching it out for the HME during naps. Currently we are still keeping him on the ventilator at night until Mom discusses the sleep study with the Pulmonologist. She will follow up with them on Monday.
James' new bath chair came from Amazon, so he got to try it out. We highly recommend it! So easy to get in and out of the tub and it gives James the supports he needs. He loves his little handlebar and gets to splash a whole ton because we are in the bathtub. We are still very careful with his trach. We are thinking of putting some type of sticky waterproof hook on the side to hold his tubing.
James I'm so happy to see you doing so well. Keep up the good work 👏 Sending you and your Mom and Dad lots of love ❤️ 😍
