It's crazy to think that a year ago we were leaving the NICU for good and moving to the PICU. That was such a hard transition and the longest 2 ½ months. In the afternoon, Dad gave James a guitar lesson. James is really improving. Video below. 😁 He also sported his bib as a visor and took a nap on Mom's bed. His new favorite toy is the pulse ox. He is determined to get it open and apart. Luckily this is even tricky for adults so we don't have to worry for a while. P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Day 546 - Cute Video of New Learned Motor Skill

Image
Wednesday, June 29th, 2022 James   started doing something new, kinda like a Jazz move moving his body with his head up and down in a jerky motion. We think he is just figuring out all the ways he can move versus trying to tell us "Yes". He now repeats when Mom does this, so it has become a game. You may have noticed that in previous photos the sun has been in James' eyes in the morning. Well there is a half moon window above his crib in the living room and not only does it shine a bright light in the morning it also makes the room super hot. Mom installed a fabric shade that can easily be opened and shut when needed.  Today we finally had Physical Therapy after not having it for 2 weeks because of Covid and being out of town. We are focusing on increasing weight bearing in both his arms and feet. P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. Day 545 - Sunlight 🌞, Serenades 🎵, & Safe Sleep with a Trach

Image
Tuesday, June 28th, 2022 In the morning, there is half moon window with an Eastern exposure above James' crib that shines light right in his eyes. Mom will be fixing this soon! Today Dad played the guitar for James while he used his new tambourine from Juju. 🎶 James is now wanting to use 2 bean bags as weighed blankets on his face while he naps. Don't worry he is breathing through his neck! 😂 Oh trach life! P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. Day 544 - Getting Ready for the 4th 🇺🇲🦅🧨 & Clapping for Everything! 👏

Image
Monday, June 27th, 2022 Dad's flight in late last night. James was already sleeping. We left for Tampa in the afternoon so not to be driving too much in the dark.  Before we left Juju got in some snuggles with Jamesy. He also tried on some cool sunglasses! James loves clapping so much because we have recognized him for it every time. He will clap if you say "Clap", "Good Job", "The End" but he will also clap when he likes something or enjoys what he is learning. 👏 P.S. Day 543 - First Time in a Pool for James! 🏊🏻‍♂️🩲🥽

Image
Sunday, June 26th, 2022 James' nap schedule was off today so we didn't get to go in the pool until later in the afternoon. It had rained pretty hard in the morning so the water was very cool. We had bought a pool floaty 🛟 for him that James only stayed in for a few minutes. We may not put him in it correctly but basically James was sinking into the water and it didn't feel safe unless we were holding up the pool floaty which was pretty pointless. So Mom took him out of that and ended up holding him on her lap and then moved him to the first step of the pool which he enjoyed. We allowed his circuit to be in the water just as if he was in the bathtub. The only thing that we did differently was take off the circuit cover since more of the circuit would be in the water. James wore his reusable swim diaper and his swim shirt and shorts. As soon as we got him out of the pool we wrapped him in a nice big thick blue towel. He was very photogenic and looked just like a cover of Nat...
