Monday, June 7th, 2021 Juju came for a last visit before heading back to Jax with Aunt Robin and the dogs. Dad came back from his boys trip in Orlando. Monday mornings are always busy with scans, labs, and measurements. Changes/Updates: Measurements: Weigh-in: 5470 grams (12lbs!) Head Circumference: 38 cm Length: 49.53 cm Mom charted these on a grow chart for preterm boys born at 26 weeks. Blood Gas:  CO2 69.7 Wrist Xray: He has a healing fracture on his left wrist?! FINDINGS: 2 views of left wrist with particular attention to the distal left radial and ulnar metaphyses. Overall density of bones normal. Provisional zone of calcification is identifiable at both radius and ulna. There is deformity in the distal left radial metaphysis with angulation and some cortical thickening, suggesting a healing or healed fracture. Sunday, June 6th, 2021 Aunt Robin came for another visit! In between the snuggles, James had 3 pretty severe BPD episodes. Around 3:30pm Mom had noticed that the vent settings had changed. The Pressure Support over PEEP was now at 40 when it was originally set to 22. No one knows how this happened or who accidentally changed this. When the RT switched him back to 22 James had a severe BPD episode. The two others were most likely stooling related. P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Friday, June 4th, 2021 No changes today. We've found that he really loves to be swaddled to go to sleep. He has outgrown the hospital blankets and a lot of the swaddle blankets Mom has purchased are too big and make James pretty sweaty. He is in between sizes right now. Welcome to life Baby James! Thursday, June 3rd, 2021 Today James weighed in at 5275 grams (11lb 10 oz), gaining 30 grams (1 ounce).  We had a new doctor today in rotation, although he has had James before. No changes today from the doctor. Goal: To wean his vent settings to be able to get on a home ventilator.  Morning: As James was sitting up in his Boppy, one of the physical therapists walked by so we wanted to show her what he could do. She said he was doing so well with his head rotation! She let us know that if needed we can use two fingers to stabilize his head when he starts to turn it back and forth really quick, teaching him to hold it in place. P.S.
