Day 498 - James has Visitors!

Image
Thursday, May 12th, 2022 Today we had a new trach mom stop by so she could see our setup, meet face-to-face finally, and see how well James is doing. Her baby was transferred from the local hospital here to out of state. The great news is she is thriving at that hospital and it's only a matter of time before she is discharged.  In the afternoon Jamie and Baby Makenna stopped by! This was the first real interaction where James was able to sit down next to a baby and play. It was absolutely adorable and needs to happen more often! Jamie was nice enough to bring over some much needed formula since there is a shortage in case anyone has not turned on a tv lately.  Although James is technically 16 months, he is only 13½ months adjusted. Being a micro preemie he will always be on the smaller side, at least for the first few years. Developmentally we are around 8 months old, because remember for the first 9 months he was sedated and bed bound. So if you take the 16 months actual and ...

Day 497 - New Things During Physical Therapy

Image
Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 James had physical therapy today and tried sitting on a deflated ball to work on his balance. We also played with a wooden puzzle that had different colors and shapes. He is doing really well and making process little by little. 💪 P.S. Do you follow James' journey? James would love to read an email from you. His email is JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com. How heartwarming for him to receive these and fun for you to get a response from him in like 10 years...

Day 496 - Air in the Line

Image
Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 We noticed a lot of air in the feeding tubing, so Mom reached out to the G-tube FB group for help. A lot of suggestions but nothing really helped. You just always have to keep your eye on it to make sure to pause and reprime the line so air bubbles don't get into James. James ready for another nap! James did not like that this boppy had a face. 🤣 P.S. Do you follow James' journey? James would love to read an email from you. His email is JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com. Day 495 - PMV Trial & Nightly Ab Workout

Image
Monday, May 9th, 2022 Three videos below. James was making a lot of noise (and some crazy faces) with his inflated cuff in, so Mom did a Passy Muir Trial. Even though James is able to make noise without the PMV, he needs to get used to the feeling of having air move through his nose and mouth. Then James did his nightly ab workout by lifting his legs slightly off the bed making little circles. This is his way of communicating to us that he is tired. 😆 He is going to have one strong six pack! 🏋️‍♂️ P.S. Do you follow James' journey? James would love to read an email from you. Day 494 - 2nd Mother's Day & Back to the Florida Aquarium

Image
Sunday, May 8th, 2022 Today James tried out his big boy stroller seat for an outing! It took Mom and Dad a while to agree on the setup in the parking lot (🥵) because originally we wanted him facing forward, but that made everything backwards. It is safer to have him facing the person pushing the stroller in case the trach comes out. However the ventilator is hanging from the handle bar blocking his view. 🤷🏻‍♀️ James was still able to see a lot more than being in his car seat. We went to the Aquarium and then Dad thought it would be a good idea to take a stroll down to Sparkman Wharf to grab some food after the Aquarium closed. They have a bunch of food trucks and restaurants. It was about 120° outside and in the early evening the Wharf turns into what seems like an open bar at a wedding. Needless to say the wait time was an hour to get a table anywhere. Dad decided to grab a scooter back to the car which was almost a mile and pick up Mom and James. Once he got to the car he realized...
