Day 563 - Storage Glow up ✨, Shoes 👟, & Working Out With James, Literally 💪

Image
Saturday, July 16th, 2022 Mom popped by Ikea and reorganized James' toy shelf with some shelf inserts. His room which is essentially out living room is 90% ICU and 10% Playroom. His storage closet which is full of supplies was also improved with some bigger storage bins (Drona). We highly recommend the Ikea Kallax Shelf Units. We have 4 throughout the house.  James spent the majority of the day with Dad trying on socks to make sure we had some that fit. It's Florida and with BPD James doesn't wear socks, but Mom was out buying a pair of shoes for James. His first pair! The physical therapist recommended that we get a hard sole shoe for James to try standing in. His foot measured an adorable 4.5 inches. Mom ended up finding 2 pairs on sale Sizes 4 & 5. 👟 They are probably still too small but Size 3 shoes do not exist with hard soles. Baby shoes are soft like socks. James is a Baby Toddler. P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Da...

Day 562 - Culture Results 🧫, Terrible 😳 GI Office Staff, & Emergency 🆘 Trach Change

Image
Friday, July 15th, 2022 Last night we made it home just in time to suction James. Dad ran back out to grab the antibotic that was called in to the pharmacy while Mom started on nightly trach care. James' sputum culture 🧫 came back positive for the following... -Moderate Growth Klebsiella oxytoca -Moderate Growth Stenotrophomonas maltophilia -Also: Heavy Growth Mixed endogenous microbiota present These strains are gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium. James is colonized with Klebsiella, this means that every time he gets a sputum culture this bacteria will be there. We don't necessarily need to treat this bacteria with an antibiotic. However "Steno Malto" is pretty serious and resistant to a lot of antibiotics. It is bacterial species associated with mold. It's an uncommon bacterium and human infection is difficult to treat.  Mom had scheduled an afternoon appointment with Lapcorp to also get checked for mold infection. While she was out she had to stop by the GI o...

Day 561 - Jame Enjoyed His first Brazilian Steakhouse 🍽️🥩

Image
Thursday, July 14th, 2022 In the mornings, the landlord and handy man came to rip out the wet moldly carpet and padding. James experienced his first Cutco dinner. It's when Dad takes out his sales team to a nice restaurant. We went to a Brazilian steakhouse and James absolutely loved it. Unfortunately towards the end of the dinner his suction machine did not work and we needed to rush home to take care of it.  Look how close James' crib is! P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com

Mom had James setup during the day in the middle of the "living room", essentially away from his crib. We also had physical therapy there. Today we focused on standing. Mom needs to buy James some shoes with hard soles.  Jamesnwas very interested in the coffee table and anything new and different he could find, even including his humidification chamber. Then James took a nap right in the middle of the floor. In the evening, Dad performed for James with the guitar. Mom also had James sitting in his portable high chair from Juju. Tomorrow we are going out to dinner and this will come in handy. In the kitchen, James played with all sorts of cooking utensils. He also had some green beans at the...
