The Journey of James Weston

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022 James had physical therapy today focusing on bearing weight on his knees and feet. In the evening, he had tastes of Sweet Potato 🍠 baby food. This was the most food he has ever eaten! He loved it! We also had a successful trach change and will be changing the circuit next week. Teething has gotten to the point where we purchase baby oral gel. James just gets very fussy and normally he is a happy baby (like always!). Tomorrow we have an endocrine appointment.  P.S. Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022 Today James had his procedure at the hospital. Even though it was supposed to be a quick and easy procedure it turned out to be a very long 7 hour event! It started out not being able to find a handicap parking spot at the Children's Hospital. Every single one was taken up on all three floors of the parking garage. For us a handicap parking spot is absolutely necessary to get James out of the car. We need the extra space to open the car door all the way to get his equipment out. Yes, there is a possibility that every single one of those spots was being occupied by someone who truly needed it. However there is a higher probability that people are taking advantage of having a handicap permit. They either don't have the handicap person with them or they just simply don't need it! Monday, August 1st, 2022 These next 2 weeks are pretty busy with several doctor's appointments lined up. Tomorrow James is getting his GJ replaced. Today we had a helmet in the morning. We found out our helmet therapist is moving in a month. So we scheduled a follow-up with her on her last day for possibly our last appointment too. We will do a head scan on that day. Today she just filed down parts of the helmet that were rubbing on his head. She could tell just by the discoloration inside the helmet. We also repositioned the foaming pads in the front that was causing some irritation. We also had our physical therapist come today instead of Friday this week. However today was a little different because she brought along a speech & feeding therapist for a consult. This is also through Early Steps and not the hospital and will be once a month. This is a huge game changer because we don't need to drive away to the hospital for a speech appointment through Baycare. Our physical...

Sunday, July, 31st, 2022 Did you know that Baby James has haters on YouTube? People wanting the parents to know they disliked their video of their medically complex baby. How miserable their life must be! We've never met anyone like that face to face. These "keyboard warriors" unfortunately is the new generation of bullies. We just have to remind ourselves that it has nothing to do with anything but themselves and how sad and unhappy they are. On a positive note, people from all over the world will leave nice comments.
