Day 641 - Pool 🩳 , Pac-Man 🕹️ 🎮, Tears 😭, & Traffic ⛔

Image
Sunday, October 2nd, 2022 On our way back to Jacksonville today, but first we wanted to try take James upstairs to the game room 🎮 🎱 and also dip his feet in the pool 🏊🏻‍♂️ during his 30 minute trial off the vent. It was a race. Dad held James with the pulse ox draped over his neck while Mom carried the suction machine just in case. Upstairs Dad wanted to show James the Pac-Man game but James was not a fan. We think it was just too much change all at once for him. We managed to calm him down with some maracas and a few vintage toys. Next we were downstairs so that Dad could sit on the top step of the pool and have James put his feet in. He was also not feeling the pool. So while Mom did inventory of the Jacksonville supplies James helped by counting all of the trach ties. Juju played with James on the lanai. Traffic was pretty terrible on our way home for some reason it showed that there was a minor car accident causing a slowdown for over 4 hours. Then when we arrived in the area ...

Day 640 - A Walk in the Park 🍃🦆🐕🐾

Image
Saturday, October 1st, 2022 The whole family took James and the dogs to Bird Island Park for a stroll. The hurricane cooled off the weather a bit so it got down to 82° with only 75% humidity. They have a maze of a sea turtle 🐢 and we got lost and turned around. Like we had to start over from the beginning and then to get out we cheated by lifting the stroller over a tree stump to find an exit.  James sported his new blue baseball cap 🧢 and Tommy his Notre Dame bandana. 🍀 Tommy tried to herd everyone by constantly getting behind the last person and jumping on the back on their legs. 🐑 We ended up going out to a dog friendly restaurant and sat outside. James witnessed his first ever airplane fly by and he got so excited! ✈️ So we will definitely be heading to an airport so James can see more! 🛫 When we got home James was so exhausted that after his bath he fell asleep when Mom picked him up. This was only the 3rd time Mom was able to hold James like this, in a snuggle hold. 🥰 T...

Day 639 - Basketball Movies 🏀 & Telephone 📞

Friday, September 30th, 2022 In the morning Mom completed a 1 hour interview with Early Steps for the annual re-evaluation. Seemed pretty unorganized, since 2 out of the 4 people did not show up and everyone was given different times. It really was so much fun answering questions that are not relevant at all to a trach/vent toddler who was born 3½ months early and spent 8½ months in the hospital. 🙄 The coordinator didn't even bother to take 2 seconds to look at his chart before making stupid comments while also sharing her lack of basic anatomy. You question how people made it this far in life. 🤯 James watched Hoosiers and played with his new basketball. 🏀 He was obsessed! He also got in some phone time and booked some demos. More importantly, James got some up close and personal time with both dogs at the same time! Puppy heaven! 🐶 🐕 🐾 We decided to start back on the 30 minute vent trials since the hurricane has now passed Jacksonville. P.S. You can email James your love and...

Day 638 - Wizard of Oz 🌈 & Bell Peppers 🫑

Image
Thursday, September 29th, 2022 As the rain and wind continued, we had a movie marathon. James experienced the "Dark Side of the Rainbow" 🌈 when you watch the Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon Album.  James tried bell peppers 🫑 for the first time. Just licking, not biting. It was good for him to get a sense of different textures. 🌀 The storm hasn't reached Jacksonville yet and may just go out to sea. 🤞 So far just a lot of rain, severe wind, and flooding. Preparing for power to go out soon. Yesterday it was on and off throughout the day. We do have a back-up generator for James' ventilator. 🙏🏻 Praying for all of those in the SW Florida area with nothing to return to. P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com
