Day 167 - Getting scheduled for surgery!
Tuesday, June 15th, 2021
He had a pretty good night sleeping from about 12: 30am until 5:00am. Around 5:15am James had a pretty severe BPD episode which felt more like a seizure. After about 30 minutes of an increased PEEP to 15 and turning his FiO2 up to 65 so he could maintain Oxygen in the 90s, he burped like an adult. Then he was completely fine. 🤷🏻♀️
Mom ran home to go get more frozen breastmilk. Dad was working at his office down the street. Had a huge box by the front door that said Pottery Barn Kids. So excited to find this gem inside! Thanks Janet and Nick for James' first chair! It is perfect and we cannot wait for him to try it at home! 🥰
Today's Morning Stop-ins
Physical Therapy - We ended up asking PT if they could come back later. James was a little irritated.
GI Consult - Answered a lot of Mom's questions!
Doctor - No changes.
Physical Therapy - Worked with James on moving his arms, legs, and neck to full extension.
Discharge Coordinator - Mom let her know that our discharge will probably be later than we originally thought.
Speech Therapy - Worked with our primary nurse as Mom pumped. James did great with the oral stimulation.
James is approved for surgery! Now we are just waiting to be scheduled! He will be getting his hernia repair, circumcision, and a new G-tube button. He will go over to the PICU for the surgery and be placed under anesthesia. James will recover back in the NICU.
He projectile vomited today around 1:30pm. He had his formula feed at noon and then we did a bath right afterwards. James was all clean, new sheets, new blanket, sportin his brand new onesie from his Primary Nurse. Mom and the RT had him sitting up in his boppy talking to him. We thought at first he may be trying to sneeze and then it looked like he was about to choke. But unfortunately he projectile vomited up a lot of his feed and his meds that he had just received. This was the first time that this has happened.
Today marks the last day of a long stretch of having two of our favorite nurses for both day and night. They are now off for a week. So we are rolling the dice tomorrow for day and night shift. 🤞🙏📿
