Day 314 - James Rolls Over By Himself

Tuesday, November 9th, 2021

Today our Tues/Wed nurse got on Mom and Dad's last nerve. Too many things to complain about with her. She claims to be "nurse of the year" for the staffing agency, yet ignored her patient all day while she was on her phone. After 2 months of training has actually become worse at her job. Overall she is lazy, incompetent nurse with a severe lack of social acuity who violates HIPAA daily and puts James at risk. Tomorrow will be her last day with us. "Those that can, do; those that can't, talk about it."

On another note, James rolled over on his stomach by himself in his bed. This is the reason why we need to keep the side railings up higher now.

Posting this here in case this helps anyone else. With the LTV if you are seeing a high respiratory rate and yet the patient looks fine, check for water in the circuit (inhalation tubing). Once dumped into the humidifier chamber, you'll here a moment of silence and then the RR will be normal. It will save a lot of time and prevent your nurse from freaking out and calling your Doctor. It would have been very sad to have had to increase his PEEP back to 12 because of a high respiratory rate not being diagnosed correctly. You would have thought with 30 years of nursing experience that our nurse would have been familiar. Not a clue how the ventilator works. 🤯

P.S. If you read the blog and are supporting James through his journey we would love you to participate in our video montage of everyone singing his lullaby. Please see the James Weston lullaby post for more details. ❤️

P.P.S. Thank you so much for the lullaby submissions so far! It's so exciting to have all of you be a part of something so special! 😭
