Day 317 - Running Out of Breast Milk! 😭

Friday, November 12th, 2021

Yesterday we starting giving James formula since we were getting low on breast milk. We wanted to transition him with every other feed so he wouldn't get an upset stomach. Mom called the GI office on Wednesday afternoon when we realized we needed a new Doctor's order for the nurse. Did you know that almost every Doctor's office turns their phones off early? So the next day, which was yesterday Mom got a hold of a receptionist who said that our GI Doctor would be out on vacation until Thursday next week. Mom let her know that we needed to get an answer from someone as far as what formula they wanted us on. She asked another Doctor in the office who just said anything like Enfamil or Similac would be fine. So Mom continued using the Similac Advance (blue) since we had a can from the hospital. Back in August we were originally discharged to be on fortified breast milk. The calculations were completely different. When we were discharged the second time James was exclusively on breast milk.

So now it's Friday and while Mom has been feeding James formula on her shift the nurse is still required to only feed him breast milk. Our home health nurse called the GI office to get an official "order" for their paperwork. Hopefully we'll hear back from them on Monday.

If you are reading this are currently pumping, don't stop. Formula is pricey! Now Mom just has to start couponing.

P.S. If you read the blog and are supporting James through his journey we would love you to participate in our video montage of everyone singing his lullaby. Please see the James Weston lullaby post for more details. ❤️

P.P.S. Thank you so much for the lullaby submissions so far! It's so exciting to have all of you be a part of something so special! 😭
