Day 654 - Lots of New Faces in Largo, FL!
Saturday, October 15th, 2022
James had a very busy day! First we drove over to Largo to join Dad's nonprofit PB&J for Tampa Bay. They made a lot of sandwiches for the homeless. It was unfortunate that as soon as we arrived James was overstimulated by the number of people and started crying. It took him quite some time to calm down but eventually James came around to two women who were near his stroller. At the end James was totally fine with 3 elementary school aged children who wanted to check out what James had going on. It was very nice to see children being brought up correctly by asking the parents questions and being curious while giving James compliments.
Next we were on our way to visit former neighbors in the area. We had a surprise to give them! A few years ago when we lived in Clearwater, Aunt Robin had drawn their tree house that was visible over our fence along with part of the giant oak tree. This piece had being hanging up as part of her gallery exhibit, matted and framed beautifully as well. Our neighbors had being going through a lot between moving from their house they had lived in for over 30 years and battling cancer and we really wanted to give them this to remember their house by. It was great seeing them and they were so happy to meet James and see the progress he has made. They had been following his journey since birth through this blog. 🥰
Our next stop would be for James to meet his first trach baby! Mom's friend Michelle had been the first trach mom to reach out while we were still in the NICU. A few months later while we were still in the hospital we met up for the first time across the street at Panera and it was so refreshing talking to someone who understood what you're going through. Between all of the medical acronyms and our babies' similar diagnoses it was like speaking a different language to some people. Believe it or not even talking to medical staff it was hard to find someone who understood it all. Aunt Taylor pointed out James was giving off "Big Papa" vibes in the photo. 🤣 This friend connection was only made possible due to the Moms of Trach Babies Facebook group. One of the posts asked for everyone to introduce themselves and list where they're from.
After a long day, James took a nap in the car on the way back to Tampa. When we got home, Dad played some music and James was loving it. 🎶 You definitely have to check out the video of James feeling "Anyway" by Martina McBride. Adorable! 😍
