Day 739 - Marvel Day at Sea 🦸🏻‍♂️🦹🏼‍♀️🦸🏿

Today was Marvel Day at Sea! 🦸🏻‍♂️🦹🏼‍♀️🦸🏿What's funny is Dad and Mom only thought there were maybe 8 Marvel characters. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Come to find out there are like hundreds. 🤣 James and Mom sported their new Marvel t-shirts courtesy of Aunt Robin. James' said, "The Incredible James" and Mom's said, MOM with the Captain America shield as the "O". All done in metallics with her cricut. Amazing! ✨ Dad was wearing his "Marvelous FaTHOR" shirt he got for Father's Day. So we fit right in on the ship! Some people were in full costume and sometimes it was hard to tell who was an actual Disney character and who was a passenger. 🤣

We started the morning off with the buffet breakfast on Deck 11 which gave James a great view of the ocean. 🍳 🥞 He is really getting his vocabulary down, so we played several games of "Point to the tree or point to the ocean". He knows words that we didn't even teach him. James is just picking things up so quickly now, always paying attention to what we're saying. 🥹

Believe it or not we went back to the cabin for a nap after breakfast. 😂 What's really neat about our porthole in our room is that it is a live stream photo of what's really outside with animation sometimes showing up on top of it! In the photo below you'll see Winnie the Pooh. Something about the ship moving, swaying back and forth made us all a little sleepy. 💤 Mom was trying to go with the flow although typically she would have a planned itinerary for the day so that we didn't miss anything. Dad wanted to just lay on a deck chair. Since James is still so little it wasn't as big of a priority to see characters and he is too medically complex to go to the kids club.

We walked around the ship because there was so much to see! There were Marvel characters everywhere. In the main lobby a circle formed around a character 🦹🏿‍♀️ and at first James was fine but then didn't like the loud music and yelling. Briefly after we stumbled across a Marvel trivia session at the Evolution dance club. There we learned that we knew nothing about Marvel. 🤣 We also both noticed a dad cheat on stage and then walked off as the winner. Wonder if the lack of integrity was worth the goodie bag. We continued checking out the other end of the ship and just randomly came across good timing for a show starting out the theater. We experienced our first show in the Walt Disney Theatre, a new show called "Strange Academy: A Spellbinding Spectacular”. It was very neat and James really enjoyed it. They did a great job of combining normal stage sets with newer digital technology. Then we went to the top of the ship, Deck 13 was the highest we could go with a stroller. It was super windy and it definitely gave us all some respiratory exercise. We just needed to get that King of the World feeling! 🚢 Video below. 🌬️

📸 You'll see in a lot of photos James is pointing, reaching, or has his arms up. A lot of times he is just pointing to lights. He loves a good light, especially a fan! 😂 When he has both of his arms up it's typically because we are trying to get him to smile for a photo and we know that he will instantly smile if we ask him how big he is! So yes a lot of our photos will be him with both of his arms up, at least that is the stage we're in right now!

Our dinner was in the same room as the night before the Animator's palette. Unfortunately because it was Marvel day at the Sea all of the picture frames around the room were not animated. It was just a drawing that was still the entire time. This made for kind of difficult dinner since the dinner lasts from about 5: 45pm to 7:30pm. A 2-year-old needs to be entertained and gets bored very easily. We also could not succumb to using Mom's cell phone for YouTube since we did not have Wi-Fi. James however enjoyed his lemons. 🍋 As soon as he saw lemons in our water he would point. So we always had a bowl full lemons. He also really enjoyed a chilled avocado soup that had coconut and lime in it. James enjoyed it so much that we got one to go for the room. So we will need to figure out that recipe for home!

🛁 🧼🫧🚿Tonight was bath night and we bought an inflatable bathtub. We had to inflate this with the hand pump. You would think it would be as easy as inflating one hole. Nope, there are nine different holes to the inflate. Prior to the bath James wanted to play hide and seek once the tub was inflated. Video below.

We had a handicap ♿ accessible room which means our room was bigger so that we could fit his medical stroller and equipment. The only downfall to the room is that the shower was a walk-in which means there were drain holes on the floor with a shower curtain. Ideally we should have just stayed in a regular size room to have the bathtub and just dealt with the tight fit. We carefully balanced the inflated bathtub on the fold-out bench. It JUST fit. Dad knelt down on the ground and made sure the tub did not fall over while Mom stood up and washed James. Afterwards James watched 101 Dalmatians with Dad. 🐾 This was the life!

P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com
