Last day on the ship!

Before breakfast we checked James' temperature again. (Forgot to add that to the previous post, just updated!) It was the same as late last night, just high enough to let us know he was probably fighting something. We gave him some more Tylenol and decided that we would stay on the ship today. Although Disney's private island Castaway Cay is highly recommended to us it just sounded like a beach with a barbeque lunch. Not worth it to get off, especially with James not feeling well and all of his medical equipment. About half of the ship's staff also got off the ship because it was the private Disney island, they were also the staff on the island.

Looking at the itinerary Mom found something called "Toddler Time" in Andy's room. We went to go check it out and it was closed. Seems like they were a little understaffed with everyone getting off the ship so we asked around about it. Then the cast member managed to open up the room. Basically it was a playroom design to look like Andy's room from toy story and it was adorable! James was the only one there for the most part. There were two different kids that came and went within the hour. Unfortunately it was only open for 1 hour. Typically this room is open and part of the kids club which is all ages, but for this one hour it was limited to only toddlers under three years old while the ship was docked.

🏝️ We were informed by a cast member that on Castaway Cay day several families drop their kids off at the island daycare while they go to their adult beach. Come to find out that pretty regularly they forget to pick their kids up on their way back on the ship and they are left at daycare on the island. 🤯 Assuming that these are the same parents that leave their kids in a hot car because they forget that they were in the backseat. Wow.

🧸Anyhow, James loved Andy's room. We wish we had known about this earlier but it also sounded like it wouldn't have been as enjoyable if there were a bunch of 10-year-olds running around at the same time. This is one of the only times it would just be Toddler Time. James scooted around the whole room playing with all the different toys. Video below. The cast member put on Moana on the big cartoon TV, which just happened to be James' favorite. James loved building and knocking down his tower. At one point a little girl came over and just knocked it down on top of him, with the mom apologizing profusely.

📸 Shortly afterwards we noticed that both Goofy and Pluto were available for character photos in the Atrium. There were no lines so we got photos with both. They had the professional photographer and they also have someone who would take a picture with your camera. Most people would say the same thing in that it is not worth it to buy a photo package. Their photographers are not great and typically you can take a better photo. The only thing that sucks is that if you want to create a good photo with a character it is helpful if you have a family member or friend who will take the photo instead. They will probably use common sense and not squat down to take your photo from the floor. 😂 After that James had an explosion diaper and we needed to go back to the room to wipe him down.

🍽️ We decided that we weren't going to go to the main dining room tonight. We gave our head waiter a heads up at breakfast; he actually stopped by our table to make James a napkin animal. We let him know that James had not been feeling well and last night was not great for him in the dining room. Toddlers can only handle so many hours of boredom. It was also not an environment where we could give him a bunch of things so he could throw it on the ground. So we decided to skip the main dining room and just grab some food up near the pool deck. The other reason we wanted to skip the main dining room tonight was because this evening was the only time they would be showing "Believe" in the theatre. Technically since we were scheduled for at 5:45pm dinner, we were required to go to the 8:30pm showing. Well that was just too late for James and also for Mom as she had to pack all of the medical supplies and everything back up. Our luggage need to be outside a room by 10:30pm. So instead we grabbed quick food by the pool at 5:30pm and saw the 6:00pm show.

🎭 The show was amazing and there is no question why everyone says it is their favorite show. Believe is the Disney Dream's exclusive original musical. The premise is that the genie from Aladdin is helping the main character believe in magic again. 🧞‍♂️ So any character in a Disney movie that had magic came to give their advice and perform song and dance including Mary Poppins 🌂 and Bert, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell ✨, Rafiki from The Lion King 🦁, The Fairy Godmother from Cinderella 🥿, Mama Odie from The Princess and the Frog 🐸, and pretty much the entire Cast of Beauty and the Beast 🥀. The genie was hilarious and had of a lot of adult and Disney jokes that probably went over the kids heads. James did great during the show and even managed to not cry during loud applauses. 👏

📹 After the show Mom wanted to get some photos with James in one of the royal thrones at the Bon Voyage bar near the Main Lobby Atrium. The fastest way to make James smile us to tickle him so there are a lot of cute photos of him giggling. Video below.

🛏️ We wanted to mention that our stateroom attendant was excellent. She helped us out with whatever we needed and was always saying hello to James. They were able to provide several extra things for us like a gallon of distilled water, a diaper genie, and an extension cord. On the second day of the cruise they did have someone come to check our oxygen tank and put a sticker on it saying that it had been checked by an engineer. They then added the O2 sticker to our door which mom had already made. The night before we left Mom had printed out the the yellow warning triangle image on cardstock and then used a magnetic business card to stick it on the back. What's really great news is that we didn't have to turn on the oxygen once during the entire trip! James never dipped in his oxygen even with the fever.

🧳 Mom spent several hours packing up everything and was able to get our luggage out on time. We put in an order for room service so that we would have something to eat for breakfast in the morning. They stop serving room service after midnight on the day that you get off the ship. They had automatically made reservations for us to eat breakfast in one of the dining rooms at 6:45am but that was not happening.

P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com
