Day 763 - Stacking Towers 🧱 & the Building Blocks of Puzzle Play 🧩
Wednesday, February 1st, 2023

Today James learned how to stack towers! He's been really into the knocking phase for a while. James used the mega bloks and connected a ton of them together instead of just knocking them down. During early intervention therapy we also had him stack a tower with his Lovevery cups. 🧱 In addition, James is making great progress with his puzzles. He now can put all of the puzzle pieces like farm animals and vehicles back into their correct spots without any help.
Around 2-3 years of age is when the building begins. This stage, known as the stacking, rows and towers or repetition stage, is when you will see them line up the blocks. They may stack them one on top of the other for a vertical tower. Or lay them out on the floor in rows, either vertical or horizontal. There will be many repetitions in their "building." As they repeat patterns until they determine the next step in the block play progression.
During this stage your toddler will learn about trial-and-error, which is a crucial building block of puzzle play. Toddlers may begin to experiment with objects – twisting, turning, and even tossing them to see what happens. Your toddler might pick up puzzle pieces to put them where they go, but she may need to turn them several times to get them to fit.
Also change trach day finally back on a Wednesday! Which also meant bath night! The splashing is getting outrageous! 💦

P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com
