Day 773 - Furever Loved 🐾

Saturday, February 11th, 2023

Today Dad watched James as we tried to continue our normal routine with Mom getting out of the house on Saturdays.

In the morning Juju and Aunt Robin took Champ to the vet. He still had his IV in from a few days ago. Champ was not doing well and had had a very bad night and morning. He had passed away at the vet. 😭 Champ would no longer suffer in pain.

We were blessed with a loyal pup on March 12th, 2015. Ironically it was also Champ Week for men's college basketball. This is the day the lady from the rescue facility brought Champ all the way from Valdosta, GA to Jacksonville to meet Mom's family. Initially we were supposed to adopt a female dog but since she had others interested we decided Champ needed a home too. He was rescued at 8 years old and was previously crated the majority of his life. 😥 Champ came to us with a buzz cut but only a short time later his Maltipoo coat grew out. Early on in his life with us he was mistreated by a veterinarian's office in Jacksonville Beach who performed an unnecessary surgery. 😡 He was never really the same after that and sometimes would be aggressive, but it was more like he was frightened. Champ would surprise you though and sometimes let a random stranger pet him! He was a constant companion for almost a decade with us. Champ gave us unconditional love. He lived up to his name as he took 1st place 🏆 in the Petco Talent Show. Champ could play the piano, shoot hoops, and even read flashcards. 😮 He lived the best life with Juju and Aunt Robin. Technically Champ was Juju's dog but Aunt Robin is a dog whisperer and all pets naturally gravitate towards her. A real life St. Francis of Assisi. 🕊️ Tommy and Champ got really close over the last two years. All dogs love to be in a pack and Champ was the Alpha. Even though James only met Champ a few times, James absolutely adored him and was getting more and more comfortable each time. When James is old enough to understand we will show him pictures and explain as best as we can. Champ fought the good fight long enough and now can rest in peace. We know that Champ was welcomed by all of those who had passed before him including James' three siblings who would love him as much as James did, Mom's previous family dog Goocci who would show him around, Grandma Eleanor who always rescued dogs, and Pop-pop who loved a good lap dog. 🐾🌈

It makes you think maybe the GJ popping after only 1 month wasn't random. Maybe something else brought us all the way to Jacksonville this weekend. 🤷🏻‍♀️ ✨

P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com
