Day 829 - House Hunting Road Trip 🏡😲🏘️
Saturday, April 8th, 2023
Kind of a random decision but Dad had received a listing for a house that looked like our dream home, so we decided to drive out and go check it out even though we knew that an offer was already made and it was under contract. We figured we would drive out to check out the neighborhood because maybe there were others like it. Right now we are renting a town home in Tampa, very close to the Bucs stadium. Our goal is to eventually buy a home and try and get the biggest bang for our buck. We really don't care about the location so we are open to living in a more rural area to get more house and land. It turns out that this neighborhood was literally in the middle of nowhere. It was a little too outside of our comfort zone. It seemed like the closest store was 30 minutes away and it was a Dollar General. That's it, just a bunch of dirt roads.
So we were looking on Zillow north of Orlando and just driving around aimlessly. Looked at a house that just didn't check off our boxes. We don't need to move and we aren't going to move if it's not exactly what we want. Also the timing doesn't really matter and right now it seems like a pretty bad time to move. 🤣
We ended up staying in Deland for the night and ate dinner at a restaurant in their little town, where James got to try brussel sprouts. He will literally taste anything. This means he will put it up to his lips and lick it. He's not going to chew anything but he will try the flavor. James loves when he gets little tiny pieces of food handed to him so he can investigate it. James also loved banging on the table! It was very clear we had a 2-year-old! 😂
This is the first time that we did not bring the ventilator with us for a trip this far away from home. We were about 2 hours from our house. We figure that James had not been on the ventilator for a few weeks and he also did not need any oxygen so we only brought one tank with us. James did excellent and tolerated his cap all day and the HME all night. Since we didn't bring the ventilator in order to do his nebulizer treatments we brought a trach mask and the air compressor. The treatments took FOREVER compared to using the Aerogen on the ventilator. But it was so nice to not have to set up the humidification chamber and the vent on the stroller! When James is getting a nebulizer treatment via the trach mask it knocks him out immediately. There is a heavy vibration that puts them right to sleep! 💤
P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com
