Day 920 - First Beach Day, Walker Appt, & St. Augustine!
Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 - Saturday, July 8th, 2023
Sunday we left Savannah and headed to Jacksonville. Unfortunately, on the way there we experienced a first... James had a diarrhea explosion in the car seat! Disassembling it requires watching a YouTube video. π The poor baby was still on Pedialyte but it wasn't really helping.
ποΈ Overall, Jacksonville was a lovely end to our roadtrip visiting with Aunt Robin and Tommy. Juju was out of town. Aunt Robin was quite the chef cooking up some delicious meals for us. On Monday, July 3rd, which was Tommy's 7th birthday we celebrated with a dip in the pool and then James' first beach experience. We went to Mickler's Landing where you can find lot of shark teeth. π¦ Because of the record heat wave we decided to go in the evening as the sun was setting. π James absolutely loved playing in the sand. The ocean waves created a shoal or a sandbar so James was able to sit in a stream of water without the dangerous crashing waves. π
Our roadtrip was 23 days with roughly 52 cities, and 123 places! See the map below!
βΏ Once back home we tried to get back into our normal routine with physical therapy and such. Several big things happened this week! On Thursday, James had his appointment with Custom Mobility. They did a bunch of measurements and discussed with James' physical therapist exactly what type of gait trainer he needed. It wouldn't be ready for 2 months, so Mom gave them both a heads up that we might be moving. We would need to drive back to Tampa when it was ready.
π¦ We are in the process of switching DME companies, who provide us with medical equipment and supplies. πOn Friday, All About Pediatrics showed up with almost all of our enteral supplies, minus a few missing, including formula. Needless to say there have been daily phone calls and messages back and forth between both DMEs and our GI team to get this switched accomplished. After a few more weeks everything should be straightened out!
βοΈ James has been doing great with getting fed directly in his G-tube without a Farrell bag. We found that the Farrell bag was doing more harm than good. If the height of the bag wasn't perfect it would drain him, forcing us then to bolus feed him unnecessarily. So we removed the Farrell bag all together. π James has been asking for food and water all the time. He actually ate a good size piece of banana all by himself. He squished it in his hands and then fed himself! π€© Making progress!
π‘ After our road trip we realized that we really needed to make the move to a bigger place now before the baby is born and things get even more crazy. We also didn't want to make a quick decision just buying any house (plus the market is awful), so we agreed on renting. We put in an application for a house in North Jacksonville for a house that had it all, for an amazing price. We were the first ones to call the owner/realtor. Long story short, the relator wasn't too bright. We offered to pay for rent ASAP even though we wouldn't be moving in until September. A few days later, she decided for us that we probably didn't want to pay an extra month's rent and just went with someone else instead. π€·π»ββοΈ Actually, what we didn't want was to lose the house. But in the end, we think we dogged a bullet with that owner/realtor! π© We went back on the apps looking for something else and only a few hours later Mom found a house even better in St. Augustine! Hopefully we would get this one! π€π» On Saturday, we headed to St. Augustine pretty late for super quick weekend trip. This owner required us to see the property in person before submitting an application. We made an appointment for Sunday.
π€°π» Mom received great news this week! After a long awaited OB appointment, the heartbeat is in the 140's and Mom passed all her tests. No diabetes! The report also showed no neural tube defects, no spina bifida, no down syndrome, and she is measuring one day ahead. All stuff that we knew because of IVF genetic testing but they double tested. The next appointment will be with the MFM for the anatomy scan!
Next update will be August 1st. We are moving to monthly updates!
