Day 312 - Lazy Sunday

Image
Sunday, November 7th, 2021 No nurse, she is still off this week. Dad started off the morning watching The Neverending Story with James. Dad was not a fan. 😂 But this was Mom's childhood. James can't wait for Tommy to come home so he can practice flying.  Mom also made her first slow cooker recipe, Butternut Squash Soup. We think the slow cooker will be super helpful in trying to cook dinner while being a full time ICU nurse. If anyone has any slow cooker/crock pot recipes they'd like to share, please send them to jameswestonabramowitz@gmail.com. Ideally low carb, but we'll see how long that lasts... Tomorrow is James' Pulmonology appointment to get another 2 synagis shots. 💉 We are also going to ask about going down on his PEEP. 🤞 The boys are napping. 💤 Baby feet! He is getting tired. James wearing matching sweatpants with Daddy. Mom's view from her bed. Ventilator Oxygen and heart rate. P.S. If you read the blog and aresupporting James through his journey...

Day 311 - Tummy Time with Mom and Dad

Image
Saturday, November 6th, 2021 No nurse Saturday. James did tummy time on the floor with Mom and Dad. We worked him into a nap. We tried using our arms instead of the boppy and it made James feel safer. He is doing so well! P.S. If you read the blog and are supporting James through his journey we would love you to participate in our video montage of everyone singing his lullaby. Please see the James Weston lullaby post for more details. ❤️ P.P.S. Thank you so much for the lullaby submissions so far! It's so exciting to have all of you be a part of something so special! 😭

Day 310 - Tummy Time with Mommy

Friday, November 5th, 2021 Nurse rant Our nurse left early today to celebrate her daughter's birthday. James spent some time in his bouncer after Dad explained to the nurse that we would like her to work with him. Yes, it's kinda ridiculous that a male needs to be the one they listen to. Mom can stress all day long but as soon as Dad requests something from them, it's done. What's funny is that Mom is the one making decisions to let people go, I guess they haven't figured that one out yet. So the nurse said that Physical Therapy is not her specialty, and that she is a nurse. We get it, you went to school to become a nurse. But hey you're currently in Home Health, this isn't a high stress fast paced Hospital and we would like there to be a point to have nursing. One mentioned that if this assignment ends up being more like "nannying" she will quit. Again, this is Home Health, go work in a hospital. They say that they are here for his safety, but hon...

Day 309 - James Wants to Play & Loves His Toys

Image
Thursday, November 4th, 2021 Not a whole lot to update. We are open to recommendations for toys good for development. We are currently looking into an Activity Play Mat but there are soo many on Amazon. He definitely like interactive things that have cause and effect but we'd rather not give him an iPad or cell phone. Let us know if you come across anything that has worked for you! Mom just bought him some bibs because he has been drooling like crazy. How cute are these tie dye shirts from Aunt Robin?!

Day 308 - Nap Schedule & Scheduling Treasure Hunt

Image
Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 Today our M,TH,F nurse filled in for our T,W nurse since she requested off.  Mom has been trying to get James scheduled for an Opthalmology appointment. It's taken weeks. We were referred to an office in Palm Harbor which is like an hour away with traffic so we'll need to bring additional oxygen tanks. Even more considering is the battery life on the equipment (ventilator, pulse ox, suction machine, and feeding pump). Finally getting through to the office they said that we couldn't schedule with them (even though we were referred by our pediatrician) because we need to fax them a Newborn Pediatric Eye Consultation Record to proved he passed his ROP test in the NICU. They informed me to get that from his pediatrician. Mom calls the pediatrician office who says they don't have that and that we should call the Hospital ROP (retina of prematurity) NICU nurse. Mom calls her, she states that she does not have this but that Mom would need to reque...
