Day 710 - Pancake Helper 🥞 & Paused Feedings

Image
Saturday, December 10th, 2022 Today James helped Dad make pancakes in the morning. Then Dad had to go to work for a few hours while James showed Mom how to work the Infinity feeding pump. 3 Videos below! P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com

Day 709 - Lessons Are Paying Off! 🎵 🎸 🎶

Image
Friday, December 9th, 2022 Today Mom took James upstairs in the morning and she tuned Dad's ukulele. James thinks this is his baby guitar and is obsessed with it. Mom gave James the ukulele for him to play with his right hand and in the video below you'll see that James just turns it around to play with his left hand. He has perfect form from watching Dad play all the time! He is a natural! 🎸 What's interesting is that typically at about 18 months children have a preference for being left or right-handed, and then add about 3 years old it becomes definite. You are not supposed to force a child to be right-handed so we have always been curious, noticing that he typically uses his left more. Did you know that the determination of being left-handed or right-handed is largely based on genetics? 🧬 In the evening, James had peaches 🍑 and he was so excited after every bite!  Check out the cute videos below! 📷 P.S. Day 708 - Putting Up Christmas Lights 🎄, PT 💪🏻, & PMV Practice 🗣️

Image
Thursday, December 8th, 2022 Today James helped Mom put lights up outside. Mom showed him the different colors of the foliage and flowers. First we went for a walk, checked the mail, and saw a vulture protecting his dinner. He was big enough to pick up James, a little scary, so we stayed on our side of the road. Physical therapy went better today since we worked in James' nursery upstairs for the first time. The PT noticed that James was definitely tolerating tummy time more on a softer surface like the twin mattress on the floor. We worked on a couple of exercises to strengthen his neck muscles so he will lift his head up more.  Mom was also contacted by the hospital to let her know that James could be scheduled for an evaluation for intensive physical therapy next week. We are really hoping that we can make some progress! P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! Day 707 - 4th Synagis Shot @ Pulm Appt

Image
Wednesday, December 7th, 2022 🫁 In the early morning James had a Pulmonology appointment. He received his 4th synagis shot to prevent RSV. It's actually two quick shots in his thighs. He only receives one more round next month and then insurance stops covering them at 2 years old. James had a great end tidal C02 reading. It was a fairly quick appointment since we didn't really have any questions about next steps. While we were waiting to speak to the nurse practitioner we had James practice naming the parts of the body. [Video] Afterwards we brought James to a new breakfast spot. We ordered him some yogurt but unfortunately it came with a bunch of granola and fruit. He did try a pineapple and watermelon though. Of course, not biting it just licking for tastes. James' favorite is still lemon though. 🍋 😂 As you can see in the photos James is quite the acrobat and is really eager to climb out of the crib. After Early Intervention therapy Mom brought James upstairs for some ...

Day 706 - Bad Physical Therapy Appointment 😥

Image
Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 Today was a bad day. James had physical therapy in the morning and he cried as soon as he saw her and reached for Mom. This is a new thing he is doing. We have had PT with her for over a year now.  We have always really liked our physical therapist but recently on the last couple of visits we've found that she has grown very frustrated. Today she specifically voiced that she was frustrated and held him in a sitting position while James screamed bloody murder because she said she wanted to let him know who was in charge. That wasn't even what bothered Mom. The PT made a comment that "when he is 50 years old he will still be scooting around on his back on the floor". She also informed us that another 2-year-old she works with is already running. 👏 Good for her. Every child has a different background and path. Assumptive comments were made that Mom doesn't work with James at all. We think this was because James was difficult to work with ...
