Day 720 - Image Recognition 🍎 & Closed-Mouth Consonants 🗣️

Image
Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 James has been really interested in his new book from our local trach friends. He showed Mom that he understands what all the images are in the book. The eggs on the bus matching toy is still a top favorite as well!  When Dad sings James' lullaby he now touches his nose when Dad sings "cute button nose". James also showed Mom and Dad how he can make closed-mouth consonant sounds like "Ma" and "Ba". Daily constant progress! P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com

Day 719 - PT, Medical Supplies, & Goofy Bedtime Routine

Image
Monday, December 19th, 2022 Today went in for his first official physical therapy lesson at the hospital. Unfortunately it did not go as expected. Two main things happened, one the therapist was saying, "Eww" every time Mom suctioned James. His medport on his G-tube opened up and at leaked like two drips on the play mat that Mom immediately cleaned up. The therapist said that it was "gross". The appointment was also very short because it's a revolving door of people coming to the hospital. Mom was asked if she could just carry him out with all of his equipment while pushing the stroller instead of letting her take the time to yet James in his equipment situated. It's really unfortunate considering that we are at the hospital and she has known James since he was born and all of his medical complexities. The only good thing at the appointment was that James did scoot sitting up on his own without any direction. Afterwards Mom and James took a drive to St Pete ...

Day 718 - James' 1st Giving Brunch

Image
Sunday, December 18th, 2022 We arranged our 2nd annual "Giving Brunch". There were 8 of us including James. The idea was for everyone to leave a $100 bill for their meal leaving a huge tip for the server. We chose locally owned breakfast spot. The 7 of us collectively blessed a server with $700 for $130 meal. She came up to us afterwards realizing how much we had left and told us that she could not accept it. But we let her know that that was our plan today coming in. It turns out she was just in a car wreck and her husband was laid off. She then graciously accepted almost in tears.   We are sharing not to show you what we did but to inspire others to do the same. We always, always, always have something to give another. If that’s our vulnerability, so the struggling know they aren’t alone, or our resources because they were given all us, and the more you give, the more you truly do receive. P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad re...

Day 717 - More Christmas Lights 🎄 & Meeting Up with Friends

Image
Saturday, December 17th, 2022 Today we had plans with our other trach friends in Largo to go see more Christmas lights at the botanical gardens. Prior to that we met up with "Grandma" Brenda so that she could finally meet James. While James was in the hospital she always had her church groups praying for him. We had an early dinner at a Polish restaurant and James stared at everyone there looking to see if they would give him attention. It was so cute!  P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com

Day 716 - PT @ the Hospital 🏥, Speech/Feeding Therapy, & Hearing Test 👂

Image
Friday, December 16th, 2022 In the morning James had his PT evaluation at the hospital. It was a little overwhelming since Mom was doing this by herself with James. For instance she forgot the ventilator in the car and had to run back out before valet drive off to get it. We checked in on the 2nd floor where we used to have Speech Therapy but they were very confused about where we were supposed to go. It showed we had an appointment but no one was available to meet with us. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Then they told us to go wait in the 3rd floor waiting room and someone else was going to meet us. As we got off the elevator, we saw our therapist who was talking to a family so we headed to the waiting room. No one came for us for a while. At this point we are now 30 minutes passed. Finally someone asked.for our names and told us to go across the hall to other department. As we were walking over we ran into one of James' primary nurses that he had on theel weekends. She was very busy with 2 children tha...

Day 715 - James Meets Santa for the First Time! 🎅🏻🎄☃️

Image
Thursday, December 15th, 2022 Today we went to Enchant Christmas St Petersburg at the Tropicana. It was a great experience and we will probably be going back every year.  The entire place is filled with lights there is a little village with shops and places to get food. They have a huge ice skating rink and a light maze with a scavenger hunt to find things. Santa is on a completely separate floor which was nice because you weren't getting your picture taken while a bunch of strangers were watching you. It was an a separate room. We also got an aerial view of the place while we were up high. When we met Santa the elves had let us know that he was taking a milk and cookie break. The Santa was legit the whole environment was amazing. When we brought him in we let Santa know that James comes with accessories and he said that was no problem. As we were trying to get him out of the stroller with his feeding pump and Farral bag Mom started to tear up because James was doing so good. The c...
