Day 722 - We're Going on a Disney Cruise! 🚢

Image
Thursday, December 22nd, 2022 James had physical therapy today in his nursery upstairs. There wasn't a lot of room downstairs since Mom started packing for our trip to Jacksonville for Christmas as well as our Disney Cruise only a few days after. So if you didn't know Dad booked a Disney Cruise about a month ago. It will be our first family vacation. Lots of research went into it since we would need special services. Getting oxygen approved was the main thing.  ... Back to PT. Our therapist was impressed with James scooting on his bottom. This week on Monday, Wednesday and today James increased the distance each time! He really isn't trying to scoot on his back anymore. In order to stop him doing that Mom would pick him up immediately, James would then throw a fit but eventually he learned just not to do it. P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gm...

Day 721 - James Takes a Selfie

Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 Mom is currently on the hunt for a new GI Doctor. She reached out to a few FB groups for recommendations in Orlando and Jacksonville. She actually joined a new Facebook group called "Pediatric Feeding/GI Difficulty Parents of FL". Facebook groups are amazing for medical moms. We received 34 responses with recommendations! We definitely have an idea of who to try next! P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! Day 720 - Image Recognition 🍎 & Closed-Mouth Consonants 🗣️

Image
Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 James has been really interested in his new book from our local trach friends. He showed Mom that he understands what all the images are in the book. The eggs on the bus matching toy is still a top favorite as well!  When Dad sings James' lullaby he now touches his nose when Dad sings "cute button nose". James also showed Mom and Dad how he can make closed-mouth consonant sounds like "Ma" and "Ba". Daily constant progress! P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Day 719 - PT, Medical Supplies, & Goofy Bedtime Routine

Image
Monday, December 19th, 2022 Today went in for his first official physical therapy lesson at the hospital. Unfortunately it did not go as expected. Two main things happened, one the therapist was saying, "Eww" every time Mom suctioned James. His medport on his G-tube opened up and at leaked like two drips on the play mat that Mom immediately cleaned up. The therapist said that it was "gross". The appointment was also very short because it's a revolving door of people coming to the hospital. Mom was asked if she could just carry him out with all of his equipment while pushing the stroller instead of letting her take the time to yet James in his equipment situated. It's really unfortunate considering that we are at the hospital and she has known James since he was born and all of his medical complexities. The only good thing at the appointment was that James did scoot sitting up on his own without any direction. Afterwards Mom and James took a drive to St Pete ...

Day 718 - James' 1st Giving Brunch

Image
Sunday, December 18th, 2022 We arranged our 2nd annual "Giving Brunch". There were 8 of us including James. The idea was for everyone to leave a $100 bill for their meal leaving a huge tip for the server. We chose locally owned breakfast spot. The 7 of us collectively blessed a server with $700 for $130 meal. She came up to us afterwards realizing how much we had left and told us that she could not accept it. But we let her know that that was our plan today coming in. It turns out she was just in a car wreck and her husband was laid off. She then graciously accepted almost in tears.   We are sharing not to show you what we did but to inspire others to do the same. We always, always, always have something to give another. If that’s our vulnerability, so the struggling know they aren’t alone, or our resources because they were given all us, and the more you give, the more you truly do receive. P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad re...
