The Journey of James Weston

Saturday, January 28th, 2023 We woke up and needing to start getting ready for the award ceremony. It used to be a banquet that started around 6pm but nowadays it started around 1pm and goes until 7pm. Dad brought a visitor to our room while we were getting ready. It was "Uncle" Trey that Mom used to work with 18 years ago. James wore his suit that he first got to try out on the cruise.  Overall James did fairly well during the award ceremony. It's not very exciting for a 2-year-old. Mom only needed to take him out once for a diaper change and a break besides the normal intermission. Unfortunately James did not get a nap as regularly scheduled. Dad was expected to go on stage around 6:15pm. James fell asleep about 5 minutes before we needed to go up. Mom carried him up and he was still sleeping but when we got on stage James turned around, saw the lights, and was not a happy camper. Video below. Friday, January 27th, 2023 🛁 🧼 🫧 In the morning we gave James a bath because we knew it would be a long day in the car. We also did his trach change since the previous Friday it was done in the hospital. Normally we would do it on Wednesdays, but our schedule has been off since the cruise. Dad brought his bathing suit so he got in the tub with James to hold him. He splashed like crazy, James that is. The trickiest part about doing a trach change while traveling is drying the trach. You do not want to put a wet trach into a plastic bag, where it is normally stored. We always dry our trach by putting it in a plastic bucket with a bunch of paper towels and let it air dry. We did not have that option since we needed to get in the car, so we carefully had the trach drying in an open bucket in an open bag. 🚘 🛣️ We left around 12pm and had what turned out to be an 8 hour drive to Atlanta, including a few stops. Thursday, January 26th, 2023 Just updated the 1/24 post with photos of James checking out the new car. 😂 Today was all about the snuggles with Mom. James is getting more and more affectionate. Not only does he loves tickles but now we wants to give them too. He played with his new birthday toys and of course his favorite, the remote control. What he quickly realized was that Mom had fixed the remote so her phone controlled the TV instead. These hotels are getting fancier with their technology! We had a quick consultation appointment in Orlando while Dad handled work stuff elsewhere. Tomorrow we will get on the road to Atlanta!
