Day 764 - Valentine's Day Gifts from Juju 💘 & Banana Selfie Video 🍌

Image
Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 We started off the morning with physical therapy where James made a lot of progress with standing. Then James opened up some Valentine's Day gifts from Juju that we received in the mail! Video below. He absolutely loved his heart slinky and was warming up to Mickey Mouse.  In the afternoon James took a nap upstairs and helped Mom with one of the Christmas gifts we received which was a tile mat. It only took a few hours and a couple of tries but we managed to spell out "Wash and Dry". Although Dad thought this read "Josh and Amy". 😂 In one of the photos you'll see that James was playing with Mr Potato Head that he received from the pediatrician in January. James wanted nothing to do with him but was intrigued by his glasses which he played with. In the early evening Mom gave James some bananas. At first he was not happy about it. We found the trick to get James to eat was to do a selfie video. 🎥 At one point he grabbed the spoon...

Day 763 - Stacking Towers 🧱 & the Building Blocks of Puzzle Play 🧩

Image
Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 Today James learned how to stack towers! He's been really into the knocking phase for a while. James used the mega bloks and connected a ton of them together instead of just knocking them down. During early intervention therapy we also had him stack a tower with his Lovevery cups. 🧱 In addition, James is making great progress with his puzzles. He now can put all of the puzzle pieces like farm animals and vehicles back into their correct spots without any help. Around 2-3 years of age is when the building begins. This stage, known as the stacking, rows and towers or repetition stage, is when you will see them line up the blocks. They may stack them one on top of the other for a vertical tower. Or lay them out on the floor in rows, either vertical or horizontal. There will be many repetitions in their "building." As they repeat patterns until they determine the next step in the block play progression. During this stage your toddler will learn ...

Day 762 - Standing & Eye Patching 👁️

Image
Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 Today James had physical therapy at home. We worked on standing! After PT Mom continued to work with James on standing. The key is keeping him distracted while he is up. Mom started the eye patch around 2:30pm and he wore it until 8:30pm! Mom gave him a Level 2 Gerber foods blend of peas, carrots, and spinach. It tasted awful, but James liked it. He is interested in giving himself small tastes. Like really small. We are always trying to add in bits of the teething wafers to get him comfortable with more solid textures. Looking further into the theft situation, we asked our landlord if there was any footage. Sure enough there is a video of a man riding up to the house on a bike with a bandana around his face, leaving to go get a knife, coming back on foot to rip open the package, and then leaving with the financial documents. So he is a neighbor down the street? 🕵🏻 😡 We live on a small "street" part of a row of 8 townhomes which is new developmen...

Day 761 - Ice Packs 🧊 & Porch Pirates 📦

Image
Monday, January 30th, 2023 Mom was packing up equipment and supplies while Dad was at the gym. We got a late checkout because it's necessary with a medically complex kid. Mom went downstairs to the front desk to get the ice packs that we had left with them. We didn't have a freezer in our hotel room and James' prevacid needed to be on ice on our 8 hour road trip. They assured us we could use their freezer. Well it turns out they put our ice packs in a mini fridge at valet; these ice packs were luke warm. Mom was pissed because this was a brand new just recently filled prescription of his medication that needed to be kept refrigerated. She let the front desk know that this was a serious issue so that this didn't happen to someone else. Our plan was to get ice somewhere and put into some plastic bags Mom managed to empty from rearranging the medical supplies. The guy at the front desk wanted to help us out and walked Mom and James down the restaurant. He filled up two umb...

Day 760 - Atlanta Breakfast Diner 🍳 & Aquarium 🐋

Image
Sunday, January 29th, 2023 We weren't sure if we were going to go do anything but then when we saw the top 10 things to do in Georgia #2 was the Atlanta Aquarium. We wanted to order a room service but unfortunately the phones did not work. Dad called the front desk from his cell phone but they said in order to order room service we would need to do it from our phones which meant the first they would need to send an engineer to fix the phones. 😂 So we left and went to a local diner instead. We found a very popular breakfast spot called the Thumbs Up Diner. 🍳 James loved all of the music and danced the entire time! Video below. 🐋🐬🦈🦦🐟🐠🐡 The Atlanta Aquarium is a must-see if you're in the area! There were several different exhibits including whale sharks and manta rays. James' favorite was probably the penguins that came right up to him and just stared. There were a ton of cool tunnels where toddlers and small children could climb in to get a closer view. There may be ...
