Day 789 - Scariest Day Yet! 😭 & The Best News 😁 (Rollercoaster of Emotions 🎢)

Image
Monday, February 27th, 2023 It started out that any other morning. Mom was doing his morning care getting him ready for PT at the hospital. Then it turned into a morning Mom will never forget.  Below is the post mom shared with the Trach Mom community to help others be more aware... ----- I almost accidentally killed my son this morning. I was hesitant about posting this for several reasons but I know that posts like these have helped me become more aware of how a situation can happen and overall more on alert. This morning I had put my son on the ventilator quickly to do his nebulizer treatments because that is the only way that we are able to do them. He is off the ventilator otherwise and is very stable. When we were finished I took him off of the ventilator and put on his red cap. He was still fully cuffed! I completely skipped the step to deflate his cuff (and we have been doing this for a while). I proceeded to put away the ventilator circuit, still standing right there. He w...

Sunday, February 26th, 2023 Tons of photos! Very busy day! Dad started off the morning playing "Dress Up for School" with James. Several adorable photos! 📸 Then we met up with some new friends for breakfast at a diner 🍳 and then headed to the zoo. 🦒 They were in town from Minnesota. The Dads know each other through one of his groups called Front Row Dads. It was a very hot day. 🥵 James rode the carousel 🎠 several times and it was the first time we saw James get competitive. 😂 He was excited as always to see the giraffes!  Afterwards Mom and Dad thought they could grab dinner and James would stay sleeping in his carseat. Too bad we chose a spot with loud latin music. 🙉 James woke up and we left to run some errands. Dad wanted to take James to Sam Ash where Dad currently gets guitar lessons. As soon as we walked in James lived it. He pointed to every guitar and instruments hung on the walls. Dad played them all for us. 😂 Then we headed over to Lowe's because Mom wan...

Saturday, February 25th, 2023 James explored his new 360 drink cup. We're not quite sure how the water comes out yet. 💦🤷🏻‍♀️ Dad watched James as Mom stepped out for a few hours to run errands and then vacuumed and mopped the floors at home. Video below showing James on this day 2 years ago and James today. It was our first skin to skin on Day 56.  P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com

Day 786 - PT 🤸🏻‍♂️, Dollar Store Meltdown 😱, & Prunes 🥄

Friday, February 24th, 2023 Mom thought we had physical therapy at the hospital 🏥 at 9am, but it turned out that doesn't start until next Friday. However the therapist said that it would actually work out today because the other person had just called to switch to 9:30am. 😅 That was good because it was such a hassle just to get there! Moving forward we will have confirmed times for Monday and Friday mornings for PT at the hospital. James also has therapy Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. So there's therapy 5 days a week! It took James a while to calm down, since Mom again needed to stay in the lobby while the therapist took him back. You could hear him screaming throughout the entire place.  Afterwards, Mom took James to the dollar store mainly to get new pool noodles. We needed to redo the bed railing covers since they were ripping. James picked out blue ones! Well James was pretty tired from PT and wanted to take an early nap. It was pretty obvious since he had a meltdown at the ...
