Day 655 - Stroll Outside with Dad & Toddler Proofing

Image
Sunday, October 16th, 2022 James spent some time with Dad while Mom went to go chill by sitting in the car a parking lot. James played with puzzles and got in some physical therapy stretches. Dad also took James for a walk in the late afternoon in the stroller.  In the evening Dad left for a hotel to rest while Mom did some handy work around the house. It was time to do some child proofing. Mom secured the Ikea bookshelf to the wall with an anchor furniture strap. It's only a matter of time James will try pulling himself up to get toys. James wanted the phone He decided he was okay with selfies instead P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com

Day 654 - Lots of New Faces in Largo, FL!

Image
Saturday, October 15th, 2022 James had a very busy day! First we drove over to Largo to join Dad's nonprofit PB&J for Tampa Bay. They made a lot of sandwiches for the homeless. It was unfortunate that as soon as we arrived James was overstimulated by the number of people and started crying. It took him quite some time to calm down but eventually James came around to two women who were near his stroller. At the end James was totally fine with 3 elementary school aged children who wanted to check out what James had going on. It was very nice to see children being brought up correctly by asking the parents questions and being curious while giving James compliments.  Next we were on our way to visit former neighbors in the area. We had a surprise to give them! A few years ago when we lived in Clearwater, Aunt Robin had drawn their tree house that was visible over our fence along with part of the giant oak tree. This piece had being hanging up as part of her gallery exhibit, matted ...

Day 653 - Reading Instructions 📖 & Supportive Standing🧍🏻‍♂️

Image
Friday, October 14th, 2022 Today James' favorite book was the instruction booklet that came with his walker. It had tabs and was colorful and also had photos of babies and toddlers. In a matter of minutes James managed to scoot off the cushions to play with the humidification chamber. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Mom heard from the DME regarding the order that was submitted for the doubles swivels. They said they did not have the ones we wanted so they were going to mail us the two options they have so we could try them out. It's very hard to explain a medical accessory over the phone when the DME does not understand how any of the equipment works. So mailing us the two options was going to make the most sense. After we did James' bath and trach care he got a boost of energy and wanted to practice standing. [Video] P.S. You can email James your love and support as often as you’d like. Mom and Dad read these email to James as they come in. We all love them! JamesWestonAbramowitz@gmail.com

Day 652 - Bird Watching 🐦, and Applebee's 🍎

Image
Thursday, October 13th, 2022 In the morning James was excited about watching birds from his window. Mom added more bird seed and it was only a matter of minutes for the blue jays to come up. Normally we have a family of cardinals but we didn't see them. During physical therapy we worked on James climbing from one cushion to another. Attempting to get him in a kneeling position and then putting his arms up on the next higher level cushion. Just focused on those two steps! After PT while Mom was venting his G-tube we noticed that his gastric juice was tinted pink most likely from blood. Normally it is clear or yellow, but never pink. James did have a couple of gauzes with red blood as well. Probably too much trauma to the site during PT. We ended the day with Applebee's 🍎 because we had some old birthday gift cards from Aunt Debra. Afterwards we went to get Italian ice. Family dinner night was a success and James got to try some new flavors. 🍝 🍦 Yesterday Mom mailed some packa...

Day 651 - First Time on Carpet 🥰 & Referral Refusal 😷

Image
Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 The day started of by Mom bringing James outside for his morning sprint off the vent and upstairs so James could lay on carpet for the first time. The feeling of  brand new fluffy carpet! 😍  In the afternoon we had our appointment for the sacral dimple/tethered cord consult. We first met with a nurse (a new nurse because there has been high turnover) and she needed to go over every single detail of James history and medical background. It was a good thing though because they didn't even have it correctly listed that James has a GJ. They had it down that James only had a G-tube. 🤦🏻‍♀️ James was discharged from the hospital with the GJ, so this wasn't a new thing. We needed to get a new weight and height. James weighed in at 20 lbs (9.15 kg) and measured 28 ½ inches (72.5 cm) in length at 21 months. Unfortunately we couldn't meet with the doctor and we met with another NP who has never seen James. However we have spoken on the phone several ti...
